Watch “2016 State of the Union Address: Enhanced” on YouTube

On January 12, 2016, President Barack Obama delivered his eighth and final State of Union address. In my opinion, it was one of Obama’s best crafted speeches for the State of the Union. It has certainly been a long arduous road for our first black President, but I couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Obama’s accomplishments. His poise in the face of such racism and hatred is remarkable. This speech was reminiscent of candidate Obama in its style and tone. The President, once again, touched on themes of hope. He urged Americans not to listen to voices of division and ignorance that seek to pit Americans one against the other. It was appropriate that he concluded the speech with a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King. Cheers to you Mr. Obama! You continue to inspire many Americans and people around the world.

Ambassador Susan Rice Withdraws

Rice WithdrawalIn my time, I’ve seen most women, especially minority women Democrats rejected, verbally attacked and the content of their character assailed by these right wing Republican “Dixiecrats”. Senators like Lindsay Graham defends that slave-owning rag they call the Confederate Flag. It took the nomination of Barack Obama for President before John McCain claimed he was wrong for 25 years in voting against the Martin Luther King national holiday resolution passed through the Senate. They attacked Anita Hill and assailed the content of her character just to place an unqualified “Uncle Thomas” on the US Supreme Court. They went after a very qualified Lani Guinier for Attorney General because she is a Civil Rights Activist. They verbally attacked Hillary Clinton as First Lady because she championed causes and spoke out and dared not to act like a Republican Stepford Wife.

Both Lindsay Graham, John McCain and others put Sonia Sotomayor through the mill for saying “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life”. What did Justice Sotomayor say that wasn’t true, especially considering they are the very same white males of which she speaks? Condoleezza Rice was nothing less than inept as secretary of state, yet the very same “Dixiecrats” dare attack a scholar like Ambassador Susan Rice. And now, that Ambassador Rice has withdrawn, we get both John McCain and Lindsay Graham hypocritically wishing her well and respecting her decision – those dirty bottom dwelling bastards. I’m not going to stand on eloquence to express how loathsome these bigoted bastards really are. I’m going to call them for what they are, dirty women hating (expletive deleted).

The Truth About Attacks on Our Diplomats

—By Adam Serwer | Wed Oct. 3, 2012 2:00 AM PDT

As horrible as the attack was on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Lybia, it was not the first time a U.S. embassy has been attacked resulting in the loss of American lives. If you don’t know history or only listen to Republicans, who have shamefully politicized this incident due to election 2012 and their hatred for President Obama, you would be fooled into thinking that our embassies have never before been attacked, breached or otherwise endangered. Or that this incident would not have happened under a Republican administration. Not so. This article by Adam Serwer of Mother Jones sheds light on the Benghazi attack and places it into its historical context. For the last 40 years since the Nixon administration, U.S. embassies and diplomats have been targets regardless of which political party occupied the White House.

“…no matter which party is in office, no matter who is president, terrorism and violence are always going to be a potential risk for foreign-service officers serving in troubled areas.”
