Amerikkkan Barbarism

Barbaric! Racist. Fascist. These words define the current regime in the White House and its zero tolerance policy. The insidious policy of the 45 regime separating families of asylum seekers is evil and disgusting! Some of the immigrant families entering the United States have entered outside of the official entry points because official ports of entry choke the flow of these immigrants. This action has forced asylum seekers to wait days or weeks to enter the country forcing more danger upon them to fall prey to harsh elements and brutal smugglers.

The United States, through its racism and apathy, allowed a fascist, racist dictator to assume power, and take my word for it, he will not relinquish that power willingly. The man occupying the White House, 45 aka trump, a name I will not to mention again in this piece, is a Putin spy and Russian oligarch.

I did quite a bit of writing during the Obama years because I was hopeful that America had turned a corner in matters concerning race. It did not. The white backlash that empowered 45 has crushed many hopes and given rise to hate, misogyny and authoritarianism. I said it plainly in previous posts, Republicans no longer want democracy, they want autocracy with whites in control. Their basic fear is too many black and brown people in the country and our numbers continue to rise. In the era of 45, I am thoroughly persuaded that my assertions are correct.

Concentration camps in the United States are the latest sure sign of the fascist racism of the 45 regime. This would not be happening if immigrants arriving at the southern border were white. The inhumane evil of concentration camps, like the tent camp located in Tornillo, Texas is taken directly from the Joe Arpaio playbook. Ironically, the meaning of the word tornillo is a small tree with spirally twisted pods, also known as the screwbean. Essentially, immigrants and asylum seekers are being screwed. Is it coincidence that a migrant concentration camp has been set in this remote location? I think not.

If you want a better United States, stand against this evil. Contact your representatives in Congress at 202-224-3121 and demand their action against this barbaric practice of separating families. The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) is a Texas nonprofit group helping families separated at the border. Please donate and #KeepFamiliesTogether.

Dangerous Donald!

DTThe Book of James declares the tongue, “a restless evil, full of deadly poison”. This is evidently true of Donald Trump’s rhetoric which endangers the American people in the United States. History has taught us that murder begins with hate speech. Study Germany in the 1930’s. History has a way of repeating itself. Trump’s irresponsible speech strikes a chord with fearful haters who desperately want to “take their country back”.

The election and presidency of Barack Obama has frightened “The Donald” supporters. These are the immigrant haters. It was hate speech that led to the murder of nine blacks in South Carolina. Hate speech has also defended trigger-happy policing resulting in the repeated shooting deaths of primarily black and brown people in America. We may have freedom of speech, but there must accountability for speech that incites violence and hate crimes.

Trump’s voice is like nuclear waste, environmentally toxic and cancerous. The GOP has created a monster and they cannot control him. Trump claims that Hispanic people will vote for him, but he knows the truth. They will never vote for Trump! He will cost the GOP the general election as he repeatedly offends Hispanics, Muslims and women. He even offends Republicans. The GOP is deserving of Trump for their racist treatment of Obama.

While it pleases me that Trump is a problem for the Republicans, it also troubles me that he is a calculated blowhard that must keep up the rhetoric of hate speech for his followers — fascist bigots.

Black lawmakers missing from immigration debate

Black lawmakers missing from immigration debate

The question is being raised by a number of observers and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) watchers: out of 42 Black members of Congress currently serving in the House, why couldn’t one African American serve on the “Gang of 8?”

The 844-page immigration reform bill sent to the House of Representatives was received by select members of the House also known as the “Gang of 8” (four Democrats and four Republicans) for political craftsmanship. So why not any black Representatives in the select “Gang of 8”? In fact, where are black voices as it pertains to immigration reform? If you’re thinking that this isn’t an issue that should concern black Americans, then you’re wrong. Anytime there is a systematic effort to remove or block black or brown peoples, obviously because of fear of their future voting potential, you had better perk up. I am one of those individuals that would challenge the Congressional Black Caucus to step up on the issue of immigration reform.

Immigration Reform

Immigration ReformOn January 2nd, the White House ruled that foreign spouses and children can stay with their U.S. citizen relatives if they are applying for green cards (permanent residency). This is another step in the right direction as the Obama Administration moves toward comprehensive immigration reform. Nancy Pelosi mentioned immigration reform in her remarks at the opening of 113th Congress, but there was no mention from John Boehner. President Obama has promised to introduce an immigration reform bill shortly after his inauguration that will give legal status to approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants. I think he will do just that. Besides, something must be done on immigration reform in his second term, and after garnering 71% of the Hispanic vote in the 2012 Election, I think that President Obama has a mandate.

The Republicans will charge that President Obama needs to secure our borders, but Mr. Obama has been doing that and more. In fact, according to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the Obama Administration in FY11 alone almost 400,000 immigrants were deported, and in FY12 over 400,000 immigrants were deported. Recent deportations, within the last fiscal year, and as a matter of priority, fell into the category of immigrants who were convicted of felonies or misdemeanors as the Obama Administration fine-tuned its deportation policy.

One might ask, what happened to the significance of the sonnet, “New Colossus” inscribed at the base of the Statue of Liberty, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free“. Or does this phrase only have application if the immigrant population is European? Conservative Republicans do not want immigration reform, and if the GOP remains on its same course, immigrants who may someday become U.S. citizens represent yet another constituency with whom they will have no influence, especially Hispanic immigrants. With the political composition of 113th Congress, immigration reform promises to be another gritty battle for the Obama Administration. Nonetheless, now is the time for comprehensive immigration reform.
